A Child-friendly Space brings about Social Change on a Hat Yai Construction Site

As part of an ongoing concerted campaign to ensure children have a safe place in the workplace for relaxation, knowledge, study and play, Songkla Province, Sansiri and its construction business partners provided an area within the construction site at dcondo Kanjanavanich, Hat Yai City, Songkhla Province on 6th June, 2014. Presiding over the handover ceremony was Mr. Perasit Panpeng , Deputy Governor of Songkla Province, with Mr.Apichart Chutrakul , Chief Executive Officer, Sansiri Public Company Limited (PCL) representing Sansiri‘s commitment to supporting the end of child labor and enhancing children’s well-being on construction sites.

The project to provide child-safe areas on construction sites is a part of Sansiri’s Social Change CSR direction that reaches out to include partners in cooperating not to use child labour and support the end of child labour in all its form within the framework of partnership that exists throughout the business. Transgressions can lead to contract termination for breach of contract, in a policy that covers every province in which Sansiri is actively developing projects and includes the vigorous encouragement for construction industry partners to provide a dedicated area for children. Sansiri is mindful that there are many children throughout Thailand lacking in the opportunity to develop in a safe environment, especially in the construction industry, who are mostly stateless children without a nationality that have been neglected by society.
