Huaikhwang at night

Popular destinations for migration offer a good mix of avenues for leisure as well as sufficient amenities. Couple this with sound infrastructure as well as accessibility to a major economic hub and one has an enticing destination to relocate to. Easily accessible by car or train from Bangkok’s city-centre, Huaikhwang is one such destination. The ‘New Chinatown’ of Bangkok  has increased in popularity over the last several years among both locals as well as migrants, offering them a host of opportunities while still maintaining access to the capital city’s vibrancy.

A sanctuary a stone’s throw away from the busy city life

Bangkok’s popularity as an international tourist hub brings hordes of revellers – an attribute that is much appreciated by those who want the hustle and bustle of city life. For those who still want to enjoy accessibility to all the action but desire a somewhat quieter atmosphere, the Huaikhwang neighbourhood provides the best of both worlds for its inhabitants.

Mainly a residential area, the neighbourhood offers tantalising food options at even lower costs than what is available in the city-centre. One such popular haunt is Noi Seafood, located conveniently a hundred metres away from Huai Khwang MRT station. For those who would like to enjoy a bit of pampering, Huaikhwang is also home to a list of spas and massage centres. A popular outlet with many foreigners is Sabye Sabye that is located at Soi 18. The area also has no shortage of nightlife venues, two pubs worth a visit are White Pub and Oxa, both located on Ratchadapisek Road.

Night market with its own vibe

One of its greatest draws of Huaikhwang is in the form of a weekday night market, offering visitors its own brand of rustic charm without the usual trendy neon lights, and rows and rows of colourful shops. Encompassed within the Huaikhwang night market are also cafes and manicure services to allow shoppers a bit of rest and relaxation in between scaling the busy rows of shops. Another must-visit is the Train Night Market Ratchada, set up by the people behind the famous Train Night Market in Srinakarin. Visitors are guaranteed an inspiring taste of Thai culture, appealing to both tourists and locals alike. Must-tries at the market are their popular Thai salad and several seafood options.

A host of necessary amenities

Huaikhwang is home to KIS international school, catering to children from the ages of three up to nineteen, with a mission to make a positive difference to students by recognising them all as individuals, and to help make the world a better place. Aside from being one of only a few schools in Thailand to offer the complete IB programme, it also includes visual arts, music, design and performing arts within its extensive curriculum.

When it comes to medical facilities, Huaikhwang also houses the Bangkok Hospital, offering patients diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation services with specialists in all major fields of healthcare. Services and treatments are internationally certified by Joint Commission International, one of the largest and most respected accreditation agencies in the healthcare sector.

The property market is ripe for the picking at the moment, with Sansiri launching their very own XT Huaikhwang on the famed Ratchadapisek Road, a mere 70 metres from the nearest MRT station.
